Despite having relatively decent skin at the moment (one of the plus sides of being in the third trimester of pregnancy and of getting a little natural vitamin D recently) I do like to wear foundation whenever I’m out and about. I have recently swapped high end brands for a relative newbie to the market L’Oreal Infallible 24H Foundation. My main reason for this is, I find the moment the sun comes out so do my millions of freckles which make me look quite tanned, therefore I like to have a couple of foundation options to blend and suit the changing colour of my skin. Rather than splurging another £30 after a weekend in the sun I’d rather have some good drug store options. The L’Oreal Infallible Matte 24H Foundation retails at around the £7 mark, so you can’t really go wrong and that’s why I have two! Sand 20 is my current go to colour, it’s perfect for my slightly sun kissed skin. I blend with Natural Rose 12 for when I’ve given my skin a rest from the sun. Texture wise and coverage wise it’s a medium I would say, it certainly doesn’t cover freckles for example. It gives a great coverage for a more even and more complete base. I apply with a sponge (just a cheapy triangle thing you get in packs of four from Boots). I really like applying foundation with a sponge and not a brush at the moment for some reason, and this works very well with this particular foundation. It blends exceptionally well and seems to sink into my skin to give great, but not harshly noticeable coverage. I always use a primer, either from Laura Mercier or Benefit and I find this foundation doesn’t move an inch applied over a primer. It is also pretty matte. Now I have the oilest skin imaginable ordinarily (it’s been a little drier since being pregnant) and I find this foundation perfect for combination / oily skin with a light dusting of translucent powder over the top to help set.
Loves – cheap, good coverage, colour match for my skin is superb and it does indeed stay matte
Not so loves – coverage is definitely medium to light, not too heavy, so not sure this would be great for winter
Overall – a fantastic, purse friendly foundation – lovely!
