This week’s Friday Obsession is famous French brand, La Roche-Posay Physiological Micellar Solution. You can pick this up in Boots for £11. I’m a late starter when it comes to micellar waters, which aren’t face washes or toners exactly. Apparently they work because,
“Micellar water takes its name from micelles, tiny round balls of cleansing molecules that float in the water. When you apply the product to your skin, the cleansing agents come into contact with oil and dirt on your face, allowing them to be swept away quickly and efficiently.”
So basically if your feeling lazy you apply some of this solution to a cotton pad, sweep across your face and eyes to remove all traces of makeup. I initially bought mine to pop in my hospital bag, so that I could remove make up if I happen to go into labour fully made up! Or for a quick freshen up etc. You can see from the photo that I haven’t saved this, I’ve started using it, because it’s amazing! I have a highly tried and tested night time cleansing routine using my beloved Liz Earle Hot Cloth Cleanse and Polish, but I do periodically add in my micellar water. The amount of gunk this stuff gets rid of is amazing. I haven’t used it on its own yet, I’ve used it as a pre-cleanse, mainly because I like the feeling of my skin being super squeaky clean.
I chose my first micellar experience to be with La Roche-Posay as these waters originated in France, this brand is aimed at sensitive skin, and all the products are formulated with their own spring water.
The water is totally oil free, so after using it, your skin actually feels like you have used a facial wash, but without any tightness. I really like this find, it’s a bit of a miracle worker. I think post hospital I will continue to use it primarily as a makeup remover rather than a one step cleanse. If your the kind of girl who has a whizzy social life and parties til dawn, falling into bed without removing your makeup (firstly bad!) I would highly recommend you purchasing some of this and leaving it by the bed so that you have no excuses! For me it’s a super makeup remover and a hospital bag treat.
Loves – super gentle and kind to skin, but my goodness this stuff works!
Not so loves – I guess you could say I use it as a pretty expensive makeup remover
Overall – I will repurchase, most likely in a three for two Boots offer
