Caudalie Beauty Elixir – the ultimate facial spritz?

Facial Mist
Facial Mist

This is a great little find!  I’ve not purchased anything from Caudalie before, I’m not sure why, as they are a super on trend, high end brand aimed at us sensitive types.  A 30ml bottle of their Beauty Elixir will set you back £11.50 over at Feel Unique.

Im really hooked on facial sprays at the moment, everything from French mountain spring water, for cooling me down in labour to these high end moisturising facial in a bottle type products.  I’ve used Liz Earle Instant Boost Tonic for yonks, and always have a little travel size in my fridge for hot days.  I’ve also noticed these mists are frequently appearing in beauty boxes at the moment, which is always a welcome addition.  They are generally very soothing and moisturinsing, and contain lots of lovely natural ingredients.  I decided my first foray with Caudalie should be with a pretty harmless facial mist, and I’m not disappointed!

Caudalie say,

‘Inspired by the “elixir of youth” used by Queen Isabelle of Hungary, Caudalie Beauty Elixir smoothes features, tightens pores, and gives the complexion a burst of radiance. An excellent base for make-up, this water awakens the skin in the morning and livens it up before a night out.’

You can use this spray for pretty much anything it seems, including for boys as a post shave anti-irritant.  I have only used after my usual cleanse routine for a burst of moisture and after using a particularly strong, and new for me, facial product.  It’s got quite a strong fragrance, strong but natural.  It smells pretty minty with a hit of citrus and a bit of herbal goodness!  I found it to be very calming, and extremely refreshing.  It does leave your skin glowing, even my half asleep husband said I had a glow post use!  Throughout the day, on my non makeup days it’s a really nice little treat to have a quick freshen  up with this spray, especially when it’s been ridiculously hot.

Im not sure it does everything people say it does, from getting rid of fine lines to tightening pores.  I think it’s just a nice little luxury product (it’s not in anyway essential).  It’s great in hot weather, I would imagine if you are a more mature lady heading for menopause this may be a great little addition to your handbag to keep you calm and cool.  For me, it migrated to my hospital bag for a post labour treat!

Loves – very cooling, lovely scent – the fragrance is very strong, so if you can try before you buy this maybe an idea.  Otherwise if you’re not into strong herbal / minty scents it’s probably best to steer clear!

Not so Loves – it’s expensive isn’t it?  If you love this you could get through quite a bit, quite quickly and it would become a very expensive habit!

Overall – I really like this and I’m enjoying trying lots of new facial mists at the moment.  I haven’t yet decided which I would actually repurchase.  The last one I tried was the Monu Facial Mist that arrived in the Festival edition of GlossyBox (you can read the full review here)
