Two weeks into being the three of us, I think we’ve started to get used to each other, we’ve totally fallen in love with our baby and we may have even got into a routine! So much so I can write a blog post, albeit one handed, wedged between sofa cushions with a little person fast asleep on me! We’ve accomplished so much and learnt so much about each other already! I’m hoping to start doing some what I couldn’t live without posts, and what was a complete waste of money baby preparation wise posts!
Something my little family couldn’t now live without and was so worth stocking up on, is WaterWipes. We have several tonnes of packets, and I now regularly snap them up when they are on offer online or they are in baby events.
When you are packing your hospital bag, and have never had a baby before, you’ll find all the online advice, and the antenatal class advice is that along with nappies you need cotton wool to clean bottoms. There is a militant stance that only water and cotton wool should be used on newborns. Well firstly utter rot, a great alternative is using WaterWipes, and secondly I don’t know how on earth I would have managed a change in the wee hours in hospital figuring out where to get water from, let alone what to put it, how to clean a bottom properly with water and cotton wool, how warm the water should be, all while having undergone days of induction and an eight hour active labour. So ignore the stupidity and get yourself some WaterWipes!
WaterWipes are 99% purified water and Citrus Grandis see extract (aka grapefruit seed extract).
‘WaterWipes are suitable from birth. Newborn babies skin is 5 times thinner than adults! That’s why their skin is so sensitive and other wipes are not suitable.
We know that parents need to change their baby’s nappy up to 10 times a day. Imagine wiping those ingredients on your baby’s skin 70 times per week and then locking them up with a nappy. There is no product that you would use that many times, even as an adult.’
We get through at least a pack and half a week (bearing in mind we have no idea what we are doing as a little family yet!), I think this is pretty good considering! WaterWipes and nappies are what we use most (washing powder is a very close third!). I know they are more expensive than most baby wipes, but hey they are pure and good for skin, containing no nasties. They are also excellent for wiping sticky hands when on the move, and are a great alternative to facial wipes for us slightly older beauties.
Lots of parents say their babies have never had nappy rash using these wipes . . . I’ll let you know on this one!
You can buy from Boots for £2.49 for 60 – they are normally in baby events so buy it bulk!
