A felt tip pen for lips?!

I have never used anything by beauty guru brand Pixi until discovering their Lip Blush, and now I’m really kicking myself because I love it!  Pixi do all kinds of super cute and innovative makeup that comes in very girly, sweet packaging.  I plumped for their Lip Blush in Youth (£12.50 from http://www.pixibeauty.co.uk/lip-blush) for my first experience of the brand.

This is a lip stain in a felt tip pen style applicator.  Pixi promise:

‘Lip Blush provides a matte stain of colour on lips that lasts and lasts without needing to re-apply – for a minimum of 8 hours! Perfect for days when you are on the go. This feather-light water stain provides deep colour with a unique non-drying formula – lips stay supple and hydrated. Precision felt tip gives a perfectly defined lip line with a sheer yet highly pigmented colour payoff.’

I opted for the most neutral colour out of the range of four different colours, although I’ve seen pale skinned reviewers say ‘Youth’ is a bit bright for them.  I found it really natural, sheer and a very pretty pink.  I’ve not used anything like this before, so I found using a felt tip pen on my lips very strange at first!

I loved building up the colour to get a more obvious colour payoff.  I found the first application virtually just matched my natural lip colour.  In terms of the product lasting, I think eight hours would be pushing it!  I used it on top of a moisturing lip balm, so I’d say it lasted a couple of hours.  The best thing about this lip product is absolutely no transfer, no lipstick on coffee cups or any mark when kissing my baby’s forehead!  Nada!

Loves – lovely buildable colour, that doesn’t transfer

Not so Loves – doesn’t last anywhere near as long as promised

Overall – a keeper and I may well purchase the other colours!
