In the evenings I have a proper cleansing and toning regime. I use a really great cream based cleanser from Liz Earle, and I invest the time in a routine including facial massage and a bit of an exfoliate / stream clean with a muslin cloth. The morning is a different story! I like a gel facial wash that I can just use in the shower, no messing!
Ive been using a duo from French brand Avene in the mornings recently. I use the Avene Cleansing Gel (£8.25 from Boots) and then finish with the Avene Thermal Water Spray (£7 again from Boots).
The cleansing gel (from the Cleanance range) is aimed at congested or acne prone skin. I don’t have terrible breakouts, just a few every now and again but I enjoy using this gel cleanser in the shower in the morning as its incredibly refreshing and works really well to deeply clean your skin. It can be used on your chest and back as well if you suffer from upper body breakouts. It’s soap and paraben free, so it doesn’t dry your skin out particularly. The best thing about this cleanser is that you need hardly any as its pretty powerful, so the bottle lasts for ages!
After cleansing I like to have a spritz of Avene Thermal Water Spray as a great alternative to toner, before applying my moisturiser. This spray is truly amazing for its restorative and soothing properties. It’s perfect for very sensitive skin, including for those of us with bouts of dermatitis. It’s great for soothing sunburn, windburn or extremely dry skin. You can even use it on nappy rash or razor burn. I don’t use it to set makeup, but you can apply pre and post makeup application. You can literally do anything with this wonder product! I took it to hospital with me for labour. Now £7 for water is expensive, but this stuff is a wonder product and can be used on the go in so many different WAys, and it’s pure thermal water.
Loves – top quality products that actually work
Not so Loves – relatively expensive for drug store products
Overall – I have repurchased both products numerous times and will continue to do so!
