So today is our third wedding anniversary! Yay! A whole three years since I had my picture perfect wedding to my fairybook prince charming! My husband is my world and now we have our beautiful son, my life is seriously complete. Our wedding was stunning, a beautiful country summertime affair with all of our loved ones. It was a typical English countryside wedding, picture perfect countryside church, the sun shone all day (apart from a late night spattering of rain drops (its lucky alright?!)), the reception food was glorious, the cake was gobbled up, champagne supped, a steel band to boogie away to, you get the picture!
So three years later, its just as hot today as it was then and with a little one under one year old, what do you do for an anniversary? We are not the kind of couple to jet off somewhere without our little boy simply for some alone time, or to reconnect with one another. I wouldn’t ever say never, but right now thats just not us. We are a very close family and our little boy is the central part of that, so celebrating our anniversary is a family affair. We never really ‘go big’ on Valentines day or for our wedding anniversary. For our first we had afternoon tea at Betty’s Tea Rooms in Harrogate, where we lived at the time. For our second, I think probably just a takeaway! For our third we decided we would revisit the afternoon tea thing and therefore we headed out to Patisserie Valerie in Peterborough.
The three of us had a really lovely afternoon tea, completely relaxing. Our little boy sat in next to me and joined in with the festivities, snacking on some of our sandwiches. We also had a delightful section of patisseries to choose from, and some gorgeously warm fresh scones with clotted cream and jam. We whiled away the entire afternoon with a few lattes, lots of giggles, and a bit of a sugar high!
Afternoon tea for two is £25
Gifts? Gifts I hear you say! Well we dont normally really do presents, but this year I carried on the cake theme (we do like a nice chunk of cake in the Davies household!) and I finally bought this stunning creation from Choccywoccydoodah in London. Ive been wanting to purchase one of their cakes for ages, and I thought hey we both love cake, and dinosaurs and this is super cute! Simpson’s fans may get the reference re the Davieseses!
Their cakes are super expensive and utterly outrageous in terms of designs. There is nothing they cant do with chocolate. This cake was an ‘off the shelf’ type design I purchased online. It was worth every penny, even gulp, the £10 delivery charge! A very happy Mr D was presented with this creation! I was a very lucky girl and got flowers and a hamper full of lovely bath and body treats.
What do you do for your special anniversaries? And what do you do if you have small children? Do you include them?
