Matte lipsticks are so of the moment, every brand has a capsule collection out. I remember back in the day when all you really could get was a 90’s dark matte lipstick, so I’m pleased that the revival includes a full array of much more subtle and pretty colours! My favourite two are from NYX and Revlon.
First up the super girly standout pink is from NYX and is called Istanbul. This little pot of wonder is a super matte, super hot girly pink. It looks like bubblegum pink in the bottle, and its definitely not for the faint hearted, as it is a true pop of super pink colour. The thing I love about these new mattes is they are all about the pigmentation, and all about the staying power, Ive yet to find one that doesn’t really last. NYX formulars are all about the staying power as well, they really do last, slightly less well than the Revlon version, and I did find after while (hours!) I did get more of a lipliner look than a full lip, but I truly love this colour! Great for holidays, somewhere with a beach bar! These lip creams are available from Boots and retail at £5.50 – if super girly pink isn’t for you, they do come in a vast variety of other options.
Next is my actual favourite it’s the ultra HD matte lipcolour in Devotion. These retail at £8.99. This colour is darker than the NYX colour, it’s a more sophisticated grown up pink with a better staying power. It will last you until lunch, or a full evening and a few drinks!
The biggest tip with these mattes, is moisturise your lips first off with a good quality balm, apply and then leave for a good five minutes to dry to get the full matte look and feel. They do take a little getting used to as your lips feel dry to begin with, but they look fabulous!
